Tank Spotter · Propane company software
Propane company software your crews will actually use
Propane company software is the app your drivers, service techs and office use to run the field side of the business. Tank Spotter puts it on one phone: tank inspections, delivery tickets, work orders, dispatch, training records and sales leads. It works with no cell signal and runs alongside your billing system.
At the tank
The 30-second check nobody writes down
Your driver pops the dome on 25 to 30 tanks a day. Gauge looks right. Relief valve cap is on. Paint is good. Nothing is piled against the tank.
He sees all of it. Most of it never gets written down.
Then a claim comes in, or the insurer calls, and somebody asks one question: "Show me." Paper in a truck door can't answer that. A clipboard can't either.
Tank Spotter turns that check into a record. A few taps, a photo, a voice note if he wants. The app adds the GPS spot, the time and his signature. The record is done before he's back in the cab.
That's one job. The app does about 65 more.
65+ modules
One app, four jobs
Tank Spotter has 65+ modules in four groups. Your people carry one app, not four.
- 01
Service. Dispatch, schedule and track your techs from the office or your phone. Work orders, repair tracking, live status. A driver taps in a problem at the tank. The office turns it into an emailed estimate. The customer approves by reply. The tech gets dispatched, fixes it and documents it right there. See the service tools.
- 02
Safety. Tank inspections, leak-check records, photos with GPS, signatures and forms built around NFPA 54 and 58. Export the whole file when someone asks for it. See the safety tools.
- 03
Sales. When a driver or tech spots a sales chance in the field, he logs the lead on the spot and it goes to the office.
- 04
Training. Hundreds of training and safety videos in the app. Each person's CETP or PEP and DOT training on record, with a flag before a renewal lapses. See the training library.

On the truck
Propane delivery software for the driver on the truck
The delivery form in Tank Spotter reads the LCR meter register on the truck. The ticket goes to the customer by email or straight to their phone. Paper is optional. If you still want a printed ticket, it prints on a Zebra ZQ520 Bluetooth printer. Printer setup.
The same driver can log his tank check at that stop, so the ticket and the safety record sit side by side.
Safety
Safety records that hold up
Code already asks for the work. Any time gas service is interrupted, a leak check has to happen before the gas comes back on. What code doesn't give you is proof that it happened. How to document a propane leak check.
Every Tank Spotter record carries who, where, when and what they saw. That's the file your safety manager wants on the day an inspector, an insurer or a lawyer asks.

Who built it
Built by a propane operator
Bill Stomp is a combat veteran and a 25-year propane operator. He went from running one propane location to running 87 branch offices across 12 states. He's since helped 200+ propane companies.
He built Tank Spotter for the jobs he watched go undocumented on his own trucks. More than 100 propane companies use it today.
Questions propane companies ask
What does propane company software do?
It runs the field side of a propane company. Tank Spotter covers four jobs in one phone app: service (dispatch, work orders, scheduling), safety (inspections, leak checks, signed records), sales (leads from the field) and training (videos and CETP or PEP and DOT records). Billing and accounting stay in your back-office system.
Does Tank Spotter work without cell signal?
Yes. A lot of tanks sit where there's no signal, so Tank Spotter was built to work on or off the cell grid from day one. Drivers and techs keep working with no bars. The app syncs their records when the phone gets signal again. More on working offline.
Does it replace my billing or back-office system?
No. Tank Spotter runs alongside the system you already use for billing and customer accounts. It connects to many of the ERP platforms propane companies run today. Your office keeps its system. Your field crews get an app built for the truck and the tank.
How do drivers document the 30-second tank inspection?
At the tank, the driver taps preset buttons for what he sees, snaps a photo and adds a voice note if he wants. Tank Spotter stamps the GPS spot, the time and his signature. It takes about as long as the look he already gives the tank. What a tank inspection app does.
Can Tank Spotter make delivery tickets?
Yes. The delivery form reads the LCR meter register on the truck. The ticket goes to the customer by email or to their phone. If you still want paper, it prints on a Zebra ZQ520 Bluetooth printer.
Does Tank Spotter read tank levels?
No. Tank Spotter is not a tank monitor and has no sensors on the tank. It's the app your people carry. It records what they see, schedules what they do and proves the work got done.
How does it track CETP, PEP and DOT training?
Tank Spotter keeps each employee's training record and flags renewals before they lapse. It also carries hundreds of training and safety videos. The training itself still comes from PERC's program and your trainer. Tank Spotter keeps the file straight.
Does it work for heating oil companies?
Yes. Tank Spotter serves propane and heating oil companies. Drivers, techs and the office use the same app for service, safety records, delivery tickets and training.
How fast can we get started?
Book a 30-minute demo with Bill. After you say go, it's usually one to two weeks until your first driver is using the app in the field. Book a demo.
Propane Safety Pro
The written program behind the app
An app proves your crew did the work. An inspector will also ask for the written program behind it. Our sister company, Propane Safety Pro, writes both of these for you.
- A policies and procedures manual sets out how your company handles transfers, leak calls and training, and which NFPA 58 and DOT sections each part answers to. See the Propane Safety Pro policies and procedures manual.
- A DOT hazmat security plan. If your company hauls more than 3,000 liters (792 gallons) of propane in one tank, you need one under 49 CFR 172.800(b)(3). A loaded bobtail clears that line. See the Propane Safety Pro DOT hazmat security plan.
