What does a driver or tech actually log?
The walk-around already happens. Paint, rust, the regulator, the foot ring, the collar on a cylinder. A field app records that check on the phone at the tank. The record holds a photo tied to that asset, a time stamp from the phone, a place stamp so the stop is the stop, and a name or signature. Required fields block a half-done submit. That is the whole loop. No re-typing at six o'clock. No clipboard in the rain.
A check mark on paper says someone tapped a box. It does not say who stood at which tank, or what they saw.
What does the clipboard cost in time?
The sheet has to live through weather, a truck cab, and a filing cabinet before anyone can use it. Ink runs. Handwriting fades. Blank lines walk out the door. A photo lives on a different camera. The tech walks back to the vehicle for the clipboard, back to the tank, back to the vehicle, then to the office to file it. Office staff hunt the box, call the tech to read the writing, and re-key a scan.
That is time off the truck. The office does not need a new inspection culture. It needs a record of the one you already run.
What does that record prevent?
It does not prevent an incident. The look still has to happen. What it prevents is the shop standing in front of a box when someone later asks to see the file. You search by tank, by date, or by tech. You do not open a box.
It also stops a half-done form from looking finished. Required fields block a submit that skipped the photo or the name. A photo attaches to that tank, not to a camera roll nobody will file.
Is this a tank monitor?
No. A field app does not read gallons and it does not run telemetry. TankSpotter documents what your people do at the tank: safety checks, service work, training records, and field sales notes. What happens when there is no cell signal?
The record has to save on the phone. A large share of propane field work happens where there is no cell signal. Woods, hills, basements. An app that needs a live connection at the tank will stall, and the tech will finish the job from memory later. That is how records get thin.

What to check before you book a demo
1. Watch one stop. Does the tech walk back to the truck for the clipboard, or is the phone already in the pocket? 2. Ask the office to pull last week's check for one tank. Time how long the hunt takes. 3. Ask whether that file has a photo, a time, a place, and a name, not only a check mark. 4. Confirm you are not shopping for a tank monitor. If you need gallons, that is a different product. 5. Ask whether the form still works with the signal off.
If the hunt takes longer than the stop, you already know the work.
