When is Texas LPG Form 501 due for a commercial tank installation?

For commercial installations with aggregate water capacity below 10,000 gallons, Texas requires the licensee to submit LPG Form 501 within 30 calendar days after completing the container installation.

Close the filing task as well as the field job

Section 9.101(b) requires the filing to state that the installation complies with applicable statutes and rules, that necessary Commission licenses, certificates and permits have been issued, and when the installation entered LP-gas service. The threshold concerns aggregate water capacity, not the amount of propane delivered.

As an office practice, assign the filing to a named person and keep the completed form and submission evidence with the installation record. A completed work order by itself does not show that the state received the filing. Check the current form instructions for the full submission requirements.

Other installation categories and capacities have different requirements. Do not use this deadline as permission to place a noncompliant installation into service.

FAQ

Is the deadline 30 business days?

The cited rule says 30 calendar days following completion of the container installation.

Does a tank photo count as filing Form 501?

No. A photograph may support a job file, but it does not submit the required state form.
